Route of the Expedition Team

  A botanist, Professor Li Bosheng, headed the first group. This group had altogether 12 members. They set out from Pai village. They sailed downstream along the right bank and marched on towards Zhaqu. They must hike through the canyon to unite with the waterfall group on the opposite bank. The leader of the second group was an expert in water resource, Professor Guan Zhihua. His group had 20 members. They also set out from Pai village. After tramping over Doxong La mountain pass, they sailed along the river and arrived at Xirang; then they turned back and sailed against the current along the river and arrived at Zhaqu directly. The leader of the waterfall group was Professor Zhang Wenjing, a glacier expert. His group had 14 members.

Routs of the Expedition

  They set out from Pai village and they arrived at Moinzhong via Pelung; then they sailed against the current and arrived at the opposite bank of Xixingla. They must complete the abutment penetration from Pai to Zhaqu with group one. The general team leader, Mr. Gao Dengyi, would first hike through the canyon with this group and would command the whole team in the headquarters here. Professor Yang Yichou headed the 3rd group. His group had 11 members. They must carry out scientific expedition along the tributaries of the Yarlung Zangbo River, i.e. Palong Zangbu River and Nyang Qu valley.
