Chief Editor—Mr. Zhu Hongxiang 

Mr. Zhu is a senior engineer and the person in charge of the Tourism Department for Public Understanding of Science in Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS).

Graduated in 1980, Mr. Zhu was a major in the Department of Chinese in Yuxi Teachers’ College, Yunnan. From 1980 to 1985, Mr. Zhu rendered his services as a teacher in Yuanjiang Ethical Middle School, Yunnan province. He was shifted to Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1985 and has been working in the garden until up to the present. Mr. Zhu once worked as a librarian, a researcher, an editor and now an educator for science education in the botanical garden. 

Ever since Mr. Zhu became a member of Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden, he has cultivated profound interests in writing articles about botany, and he has published nearly 100 such articles for various newspapers, TV stations, and radio studios up to the present. His representing work Rare Flowers in the Rain Forests was awarded the second prize for science educational works on the Second Technological Conference of Xishuangbanna State in Yunnan province. His work A Green Dream – Prof. Cai Xitao was selected as the manuscript for a specialized TV program “The Stories of Yunnan in 100 Years – In Retrospect of the Century.” Together with Yunnan Technological Press, Mr. Zhu edited a book named The Cinnamomum Plant Resources of China and Their Aromatic Elements, and the book was awarded the second prize in the Appraisal of Outstanding S&T Books in Southwest & Northwest China, the Chinese Book Prize of the 11th Session Chinese Book Show, and the title of “Outstanding Book” of Yunnan etc. Besides, many scientific films shot with many TV studios under the organization of Mr. Zhu won numerous prizes of the national and the provincial level. 

From 1999 to the present, Mr. Zhu has separately presided over the Science Education Project of Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden sponsored by the Popular Science Foundation of CAS, the sub-project entitled the “Garden of 10000 Varieties of Plants” sponsored by CAS and Yunnan province, and the online Virtual Museum Project.
