Greenstripe Bamboo

Bamboo has a family clan of more than 1000 brothers and sisters. They mainly scatter in Southeast Asia. The mountain areas in Southwest China are the native land of bamboos, there are more than 700 bamboo varieties there and account for more than 50% of the total. There are over 300 varieties of bamboos in Yunnan and takes up 50% of the total in China.

The garden of bamboos was established in 1965 and it occupies an area of 5.3 ha. There are altogether 130 varieties of bamboos in it. The garden collects most of the bamboo varieties in South Yunnan, Canton, Guangxi, Hainan and in tropical areas of Southeast Asia and many precious varieties, such as grangen bamboo with a thickness of 25 cm in diameter, the buddha bamboo , which bulges in the middle, the greenstripe bamboo mixing green and yellow, the thorn bamboo full of thorns, and the tinwa bamboo that are used to cook food in bamboo barrels, the tasty sweet bamboo, the square bamboo with square joints, and the rarely seen vine bamboos and fernleaf hedge bamboo with the Dai features.
